nuntius
Director sequence which explores
the notion of information overload and how the media is bombarding
us with information, that we filter and digest in small quantities
in order to cope with the overload of data that is thrown
at us on a daily basis, through televison, radio, newspapers,
the internet, signage, etc.
The sequence begins with a slow spaced uncluttered animation,
of moving close ups of alphabetical letters, commencing with
the letter 'a'.
The sequence gradually speeds up as the screens become congested
with type, and sounds, as it reaches the letter z the screen
is a chaotic mess of text and sound, that is hard to understand
and absorb.
The digital sequence was created in conjuction with a printed
piece, that translated what the screens represent as a hard
copy. Layered pages of type printed on translucent sheets
of bromide film and semi opaque sheets of drafting paper,
let the reader read sections on each page and also preview
the following pages by seeing though the transparent pieces
of plastic.
