WELCOME
to Inspirational burst #009
FEBRUARY , 2003
Welcome to new look! hope its easier to use than the previous issues..feedback
and comments are welcome.
I ventured down to China town this month, after not having been
there for what seemed years. I stumbled upon a burst of inspiration
which drove me to rush home and jump on the web to find some fantastic
and 'cute' websites. You know the hello kitty style of illustrated
products which are part of asian popular culture.
There are some great characters like the little grains of rice,
the potato and little piece of bread (i think) with a nibble taken
out of it.
I realised that there is an amazing contrast in aesthetics between
asian graphic design and western based graphic design. I'm sure
these asian sites brake every usability rule known to western person,
however bearing in mind that the way in which we assimilate information
reading from left to write differs from the way in which they read,
these sites probably make perfect sense to them. However the cluttered,
overcrowded appearance and lack of white space in some of these
sites makes me wonder how on earth they draw attention to certain
elements within a design. I must admit there is something quite
refreshing about the chaotic appearance of these sites...well at
least for my eyes.
Anyway enough chatter feast your eyes!
