When I started putting together the links that would make up this issue of
burst, I had the intention of finding a collection of websites which used sound
in an inspiring way, however after surfing the tangled web for quite a few
hours I barely emerged with a handful of sites that had utilised sound in an
innovative and creative way...to say the least I was quite disappointed although
I half expected it.
Why has the web not taken advantage of such a sensory medium? Many reasons
I suspect... starting with the fact that designers are not really taught about
sound. Their training is so focused on the visual medium that our ears are
almost left our of the entire creative process. The other reason is bandwidth
or the lack off, perhaps once the web is connected with bigger and fatter cables,
we will truly see or rather hear and experience a true multimedia experience...I
await in anticipation ;-)
I also thought that there was a lack sites which sold sound however, when I
did some investigation I found out that this was not true. There are a multitude
of websites out there which sell and even give away sound tracks, sound effects
and loops. So this means that if you are reading this there is no reason why
sound should be excluded from your next multimedia assignment. So click on this
link to view the resources that are available.
So at last we get to the inspiring bit...crank up the volume and put on our
headphones.
njoy & be inspired!

inspirational thought::
It's much easier to dismiss ideas than to engage with them. But that's
exactly what we mustn't do. Shut out ideas and they'll just go somewhere else.
There'll always be someone who'll give a home to a good idea.
