   A powerful piece that features a message which is even more relevant today than it
   was 30 years ago....
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
   "In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel
   tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do
   an interview about peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using
   the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven
   a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood
   of multipronged animation. Raskin marries the terrifyingly genius pen work of James
   Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding
   vessel for Lennon's boundless wit, and timeless message."

        <p>
      When I was 24 my friend and I wrote ourselves a letter 10 years into the future. In
      it we talked about how we felt in that moment in time and also what we hoped for the
      future, our goals and dreams.
   </p>
        <p>
          <img src="http://www.aphic.com/blog/content/binary/futureme1.gif" border="0" align="left" /> As
      the years passed our friendship dissipated into a memory but when I turned 34 I received
      a letter that had been addressed to my parents place. I didn't open it right away,
      even though I felt an excited anticipation and at the same time hesitation for what
      the letter might contain.
   </p>
        <p>
      I needed to wait for the right moment. Two days later I broke open the wax seal and
      immersed myself in a journey to the past. The interesting thing about the whole experience
      is not what the letter contained but how I sounded to myself. In ten years I had evolved
      into quite a different person, I guess it's to be expected, however you never really
      analyse yourself in that way. It was an insightful experience that I think I might
      try again.
   </p>
        <p>
      So what brought on this nostalgic blog entry? This website which I just stumbled upon
      called <a href="http://futureme.org" target="_blank">Future Me</a> , a site in which
      you can send an email to yourself into the future. If you're feeling slightly voyaristic
      check out the public entries, some of them are quite touching.

      Ray Bradbury is the author of more than 500 published works—short stories, novels,
      stage plays, screenplays, TV scripts, poetry. Exploring become his oxygen and the
      secret of his prolific creativity. Bradbury told Jack Foster that he had read a short
      story, an essay and a poem every day since childhood.
   </p>
        <p>
      "If you stuff yourself full of poems, essays, plays, stories, novels, films,
      comic strips, magazines and music," Bradbury said, "you will automatically
      explode every morning like Old Faithful. I have never had a dry period in my life
      because I feed myself well." Make an exploration list for your life.

        <p>
      I'm totally engrossed in <a href="http://www.goodisdead.com/index.php?/chip_who/" target="_blank">Chip</a> Kidd's<a href="http://www.goodisdead.com/index.php?/the_cheese_monkeys/" target="_blank"> 'The
      Cheese Monkeys' </a>at the moment. Apart from being an extraordinary book designer
      he is one of the most talented writers that I have ever had the pleasure to read.
      I savour every word and wish that I had the skill to create such beautiful paragraphs
      of delicously descriptive tales, not to mention the wry humour which makes me giggle
      to myself even in a crowded train.
   </p>
        <p>
      I made the mistake of reading his second novel first, and although they can be read
      as stand alone, I recommend that you read this one first.
   </p>
        <p>
      Every designer who reads this will be filled with nostalgia that will take them back
      to the days when they were training as designers.
   </p>
        <p>
      Here is great morsel that I just have to share....
   </p>
        <p class="style1">
      "...And that's when I realized things like this had been occurring to me a lot lately.
      All signage-indeed, any typesetting, color schemes, and printed materials my eyes
      pounced on were automatically dissected and heald to Draconian standards of graphic
      worthiness. It was all I could do to keep from grabbing the station attendant by the
      shoulders and shaking her into sense, screaming, "None of it's CONSISTENT! Don't you
      understand?! Somebody DO SOMETHING!!"
   </p>
        <p class="style1">
        </p>
        <p>
      There is another really funny section in which he describes ideas as 'whores' which
      is absolutely hilarious, but I'll leave that one to those who read the book.
