Another super amazing website from Got Milk? The previous version Get the Glass was also pretty amazing. There is also another version in Spanish called "Toma Leche" that is also worth a look.

The campaigns are also pretty funny, 'White Gold' is ultra cool!

Tuesday, 19 August 2008 | I MET THE WALRUS

A powerful piece that features a message which is even more relevant today than it was 30 years ago....

"In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation. Raskin marries the terrifyingly genius pen work of James Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit, and timeless message."

Great blog for those interested in character design. It features some interesting interviews of exceptionally, creative illustrators and also showcases the character development process; from pencil sketch to final 3d renderring.

I caught the latest preview of the new Dreamworks movie 'Kung FU Panda' which looks awesome, when I went to see 'Horton hears a who' which was beautifully translated from the book by the amazing Dr Seuss.

Stunning illustrations created by Sergey Tyukanov there is also a website with his work, mostly paintings however i think that i prefer his etchings most. Seems to be highly influenced by the Dutch artist Bosch and Bruegel in particular his Tower of Babel painting.

Tuesday, 11 March 2008 | ARCHIBALD WINNER 2008

This years Archibald prize has been won by Sydney artist Del Kathryn Barton. The title of her painting is just as lovely as the painting "You are what is most beautiful about me", a self portrait with Kell and Arella.

Here is an exert from the AGNSW website that describes the thinking under the brush strokes ... "Del Kathryn Barton’s self-portrait depicts her with her son and daughter, Kell and Arella. “This painting celebrates the love I have for my two children and how my relationship with them has radically informed and indeed transformed my understanding of who I am,” she says. “The title of the work – you are what is most beautiful about me – alludes to that utterly profound ‘in-loveness’ that all mothers have for their children. Both my children have taken my world by storm and very little compares to the devotion I feel for them both. The intensity of this emotion is not something that I could have prepared myself for. The alchemy of life offered forth from my inhabitable woman's body is perhaps the greatest gift of my life.”

Saturday, 23 June 2007 | HAND DRAWN

There is something really beautiful about hand-renderred type. In this digitally invaded world some of us are forgetting how to write by hand and even draw. A lost art perhaps. Mis-printed type is the creation of Eduardo Recife a designer/artist from Brazil.

Thursday, 03 May 2007 | HANUKA

Whilst eating my delicious smoked salmon wrap today, I came across the work of an extremely talented illustrator and comic book artist Tomer Hanuka.

The illustrations in which he depicts the night club/bar scenes are just amazing. The way in which he captures the dark side of night-life through the grotesque like faces and actions is truly admirable. The images have a cinematic quality about them. Tomer's blog is really insightful; as he explains his process and inspiration.

The beautiful work of Si Scott is a typographical masterpiece. Judging from the quicktime video featured on his site I think its all hand drawn! That kind of makes it more special in this computerised world that we live in, were the craft of hand drawing seems to be becoming a lost art.

Read interview.
